Center of Unfinished Business

El C& Center of Unfinished Business es una sala de lectura que reúne una selección extraordinaria —a veces desconcertante— de obras vinculadas, de múltiples maneras, a la cuestión del colonialismo. De la colonización alemana a la moda congoleña, pasando por los mercados financieros del siglo XXI, la colección atraviesa diversos ámbitos relacionados.

Inaugurada en 2017, la sala de lectura ha viajado y tejido vínculos de múltiples maneras con instituciones desde Cincinnati hasta Hong Kong, pasando por Berlín, Viena, Toulouse, Atenas, Kassel y Nueva York.

Al propiciar encuentros y conversaciones abiertas en torno a las relaciones de poder coloniales persistentes —incluidos los desafíos de accesibilidad y conciencia histórica—, el Centro impulsa la revisión crítica e invita a las instituciones artísticas a interrogar sus propios puntos ciegos. Contiene obras de la colección de C&, pero también de la institución anfitriona, y busca siempre incluir una organización local de base.

El proyecto no pretende constituir una biblioteca coherente y exhaustiva sobre el colonialismo —¿cuándo podría serlo?—. El colonialismo es un asunto inacabado: persiste, bajo diversas formas.

Connecting Institutions

Launched in 2017, the reading room has travelled to art spaces and museums around the world, connecting with institutions such as:

  • ifa (Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen), Berlin
  • Museum Ludwig, Cologne
  • Les Abattoirs Musée, Toulouse
  • Para Site, Hong Kong
  • Contemporary Arts Center, Cincinnati
  • Vera List Center, New York
