The Goethe-Institut is a globally active, cultural institute of the Federal Republic of Germany. It has played a central role in carrying out Germany’s foreign cultural and educational policy for more than 60 years.
It promotes instruction in German language abroad while cultivating international cultural collaboration. In addition, the Goethe-Institut projects a comprehensive image of Germany by providing information on Germany’s cultural, social and political life.
The Goethe-Institut in Dakar oversees the region of Senegal, The Gambia and Mauretania. It organises and assists with a broad spectrum of cultural events as a means of developing and strengthening mutual cultural relationships and partnerships between Germany and Senegal. The focus of the cultural programme is upon the areas of literature, film and the visual arts. The Goethe-Institut Dakar is also particularly engaged in an exchange of artists between Senegal and Germany.
