15 October 2025

The daughter of an artist, Everlane Moraes grew up surrounded by color and both classical and popular music. She is the director of films such as Caixa D'Água: Qui-lombo é esse? (2012) and Conflitos e Abismos: A expressão da condição humana (2014). The first depicts a neighborhood in the city of Aracaju, which in the past was a 'quilombo' in which blacks took refuge from slavery. The second is a poetic reading of the work of her father, an artist who had a strong influence on her own career in the arts and filmmaking. An activist in the Black movement in Brazil, Everlane Moraes studies Visual Arts at the Federal University of Sergipe and since 2015 has been studying Filmmaking at the International School of Film and Television in Cuba.
