Zimbabwean emerging artists Wilfred Timire and Franklyn Dzingai are joint winners and will present a solo exhibition at Gallery 1957 in 2022.
The winning artists for the artHARARE Africa First Art Prize are Wilfred Timire and Franklyn Dzingai.
The Prize aims to benefit emerging and mid career artists working in Zimbabwe and the Zimbabwean diaspora by increasing their profile and giving them international exposure. A collaboration between artHARARE and Africa First, the artHARARE African First Art Prize will celebrate the practice of a Zimbabwean emerging visual artist who has shown commitment to work as a professional artist.
Visual artists Wilfred Timire and Franklyn Dzingai will stage solo exhibitions hosted by Gallery 1957 and separate artist residencies in Israel and Ghana.
