SAVVY Contemporary opens a new space

SAVVY Contemporary, Berlin, Germany
10 Aug 2013 - 11 Sep 2013

After 4 years, 26 exhibitions, 22 publications, 18 performance events and 15 lectures in the 80m2 space at the Richardplatz, SAVVY Contemporary will move to a new space.

In the new space SAVVY Contemporary will realise art exhibitions, performances (performance art, performance theatre, poetry performances), 2 lecture/presentation series (ARTension Straightforward and Mutant Matters), an archive with artefacts of German colonial history (Colonial Neighbours), an archive on performance and performing arts (SAVVY:DOC), an open library with art and culture books with a focus on critical theory and a symposium space. Additionally, SAVVY Contemporary will initiate a residency program for curators, writers and artists who will reside in the old space.

SAVVY Contemporary will strike its roots in a former power plant, the so-called “Kathedrale der Elektrizität” in Berlin-Neukölln built by the renowned architect Hans Heinrich Müller from 1926-1928.
