36e Biennale de São Paulo
Attending the opening week of this year’s Biennial curated by Bonaventure Soh Bejeng Ndikung, the C& Team captured some impressions of artworks by some artists of the African diaspora highlighted in the space.
La 36e Biennale de São Paulo ouvre ses portes au public le 6 septembre 2025, au Pavillon Ciccillo Matarazzo, après une année et demie d’engagements curatoriaux et de rencontres aux quatre coins du monde.
Le programme public a débuté en novembre 2024 avec les Invocations, réunies dans quatre lieux : Marrakech, Guadeloupe, Zanzibar et Tokyo. Chaque étape a rassemblé artistes, poètes, musiciens et activistes autour de performances, de débats, de rituels et de présentations, explorant et incarnant la pluralité de l’humanité via des thèmes tels que l’appartenance, la mémoire, la communauté, l’émancipation, l’interdépendance, le soin, la technologie et les transitions. Ces expériences ont constitué un « rituel initial » qui irrigue désormais l’exposition à São Paulo, porteur d’histoires et de langues, de goûts et de sons, d’esthétiques et de rythmes qui ont franchi océans et frontières.
Sous le concept proposé par Bonaventure Soh Bejeng Ndikung, avec les co‑curateur·rice·s Alya Sebti, Anna Roberta Goetz et Thiago de Paula Souza, la co‑curatrice à large échelle Keyna Eleison, ainsi que Henriette Gallus en tant que conseillère stratégie et communication, cette édition s’inspire du poème « Da calma e do silêncio » de la poétesse Conceição Evaristo, et fonde son propos sur l’écoute active, la rencontre, la négociation et le respect comme fondements d’une humanité pratiquée. La métaphore de l’estuaire — lieu de convergence de courants divers, site de manifestation et coexistence de différentes réalités, espace d’abondance — traverse une exposition divisée en six chapitres, conçus comme des fractales reliées par des flux constants et des dialogues.
