RESOLVE Collective: Off Grid

RESOLVE present their first international show in Berlin at the Haus Der Kulturen Der Welt on Saturday (13.10.18) from 2pm to 4pm as part of the Forecast Festival 2018.

Investigating how migration and division shape our cities, ‘Off Grid’ is a moving space that playfully responds to the austere mathematical models that explain human separation. Explore ideas of separation, migration, and ‘home’ with RESOLVE Collective by interacting with a world of storytelling, poetry, and music that you can climb-on, sit-with, think-through and reconstruct.

The ‘Off Grid’ project is in collaboration with Berlin-based artist Thierno Diallo, the community empowerment group Schilleria, migrant-focused magazine NANSEN, the African soul band Fulani and more.

BACKGROUND

RESOLVE is an interdisciplinary design collective based in London that combines architecture, engineering, technology and art to address social challenges.

Collaboration and co-production is a critical part of our ethos. For us, it is the rst step towards realising more equitable visions of change and the ultimate attempt to bridge the gaps between a multitude of groups and communities, providing a platform for the production of new knowledge and ideas. An integral part of this is working with youth and under-represented groups in society and engaging them in the design process.

For us, ‘design’ encompasses both physical and systemic intervention. We look at innovative ways of working with local communities as ‘stakeholders’ in the short and long-term management of projects. In this way, design carries more than aesthetic value; it is also a mechanism for socio-economic change.
