Jeff Cán Xicay (Patzicía, Chimaltenango, 2003) is a Kaqchikel artist and weaver. His practice is based on Mayan textile craft, particularly the backstrap loom, understood as a community, political and intellectual tool. Through weaving, embroidery, installation and performance, he transforms everyday activities and inherited practices into designs that engage in dialogue with the land, history and the present of his community.
