C&’ first birthday!

Twelve months ago we launched our online magazine and have since then been on a truly amazing journey.

C&  has grown into a thought-provoking and lively platform – thanks to all of you, thanks to all the young talent, renowned names, and all the other cultural movers and shakers from Africa and its diaspora.

The C& team wants to thank you all for your support!

News:

C& is proud to announce its official media partnership with the 11th  edition of Dak’Art, the Biennale of Contemporary African Art taking place 9 May – 8 June 2014 in Dakar.

Features:

As part of our little Dakar series, C& talked to Eva Barois de Caevel, curator behind the exhibition Qui a dit que c’était simple / Who Said It Was Simple at Raw Material Company, Dakar.

In the light of the major show, “Divine Comedy: Heaven, Hell, Purgatory revisited by Contemporary African Artists” at the MMK Museum für Moderne Kunst in Frankfurt, C& will feature a series of exclusive conversations with some of the participating artists.  The MMK and C& have launched their first interview with South African photographer Guy Tillim.

C&  is happy to start a little collaboration with the Manifesta Journal: From the current edition, Future(c) of Co-habitation, co-edited by Bisi Silva, we will feature a selection of articles exploring polyphonic and transgressing narratives. We will start with a conversation between both writers and filmmakers Raimi Gbadamosi and John Akomfrah  who take a critical look at the hierarchizing effect of the notion of hybridity.

Morgan Quaintance  pays tribute to one of the world’s leading intellectuals and activist, the sociologist and cultural theorist Stuart Hall.
