We’ve just come back from Lagos where we had the great pleasure to hold our very first C& workshop for critical writing. We had a fantastic and engaging time with 30 amazing young writers from Nigeria and their dedicated tutors: Bim Adewunmi, Tolu Ogunlesi, Obidike Okafor, and Sean O’Toole.

As media partner of Pascale Marthine Tayou‘s show BOOMERANG at Serpentine Galleries in London, C& presented a unique talk with the internationally renowned artistin conversation with curator N’Goné Fall and Julia Grosse, co-founder and editor-in-chief of C&.

C& is exclusively featuring El Hadji Sy: Painting, Performance, Politics at the Weltkulturenmuseum in Frankfurt. This is the first retrospective exhibition of the pioneering painter and curator El Hadji Sy. In interviews and essays, Julia Grosse , Yvette Mutumba  and Philippe Pirotte take a closer look at the artist’s interdisciplinary and complex practice.

We are also partnering with The Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery in Toronto which is currently showing The Unfinished Conversation: Encoding/Decoding. In the group exhibition artists like Steve McQueen, John Akomfrah and Shelagh Keeley reach back in time, examining the visual dynamics of the post WWII era, linking it to their immediate present. Our author Bill Clarke takes a closer look at this curatorial endeavour.

C& is happy to present a joint-conversation with Hans Ulrich Obrist, Simon Castets and Missla Libsekal about their exciting project 89plus in South Africa.

David Adjaye has also been appointed to develop the architecture for the the 56th International Art Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia curated by Okwui Enwezor. Fort he International Pavilion in the Giardini he designed the ARENA, which “will serve as a gathering place of the spoken word, the art of the song, recitals, film projections, and a forum for public discussions.

Finally, we are thrilled that Samson Kambalu who we prominently featured on the cover of our first print issue during the Dakar Biennale 2014 is one of the selected artists at the 56th International Art Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia.
