UNESCO-ASCHBERG : GRANT FOR FRANCOPHONE AFRICAN ARTISTS

In collaboration with the City of Quebec, and the UNESCO- Aschberg center of artists, LA CHAMBRE BLANCHE offers a production residency in digital arts.

This residence is exclusively for young artists (25 to 35) in Francophone Africa , with at least two years of professional practice and who reside in the following countries ( members or observers of the International Organization of la Francophonie ): Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Central African Republic, Comoros, Congo, DR Congo, Côte d’ Ivoire, Djibouti, Egypt, Gabon, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea -Bissau , Equatorial Guinea, Madagascar, Mali, Mauritius, Mauritania, Mozambique, Niger, Rwanda, Sao Tome and Principe, Senegal, Seychelles, Chad, Togo, Tunisia.

LA CHAMBRE BLANCHE offers residencies in digital production and web art. The complex is open to artists in visual arts and media arts already working with or wishing to explore new technologies and new media. LA CHAMBRE BLANCHE is interested in projects which aim to explore the various possibilities of the medium, such as interactivity, participatory art, hypertext, sound exploration, processing fixed or moving images, etc.

The residence is four months from the beginning of April and the end of July 2014.

The scholarship includes :

– Access for six weeks in a Mac computer lab environment

– 120 hours of technical assistance

– A fee of $ 1,100 ( Cdn )

– $ 8,000 ( Cdn ) per diem

– The distribution of the work on our website for a minimum of six months- Housing and Transport ( return ticket )
he proposal should include

– The application form completed

– A letter of intent

– A text describing the project

– A visual documentation

– A short text describing the approach of the artist

– A current resume

As part of this residence,the artist can stay four months in Quebec City having at its disposal an apartment and a studio work and will enjoy many opportunities for contacts professionals related to the development of his career.

LA CHAMBRE BLANCHE is an artist-run center specializing in artist residencies. Founded in 1978, LA CHAMBRE BLANCHE was the first distribution center run by a collective of artists in Quebec. Since 1982, the residency program is still a special place for reflection on current practices. The center is a pioneer and distinguished by inviting artists to create their own unique works in this new context creation. In 2000, he opened a production laboratory on the Web, offering the arts community not only new tools of production, but also to create a new context : the virtual space. In 2001, the first artists will perform production residencies Web and network art. The objectives of this residence, in addition to producing a hypermedia work, the opportunity for the artist to work an exploratory approach in a challenging environment , an exchange with the environment of Quebec arts.
