Tiona McClodden: Dreaming of Kin

Tiona McClodden: Dreaming of Kin
13 January 2016
The film features 'Be Alarmed: The Black Americana Epic, Movement I – The Visions', the first of a four-part body of work by visual artist and filmmaker Tiona McClodden, that charts the artist’s personal, familial, and spiritual biography.
McClodden deconstructs the epic film genre through nonlinear film trailers, scenes, photographic ephemera, and sculptural objects that envelop the viewer in a constellation of coded heirlooms that reimagine the Black american family tale.
Dreaming of Kin is supported in part by public funds from The New York City Department of Cultural Affairs (DCA) in partnership with The City Council, and private funds from Lambent Foundation and Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts.
