For its 23rd edition, Paris Photo, the largest international art fair dedicated to the photographic medium, announces 209 exhibitors for the Main Galleries, Book, PRISMES, & Curiosa Sectors.

179 galleries and 33 art book dealers from 30 countries present the best in photography and image-based art from November 7 to 10, 2019 at the historic Grand Palais in Paris. See the 2019 exhibitor list

The PRISMESsector is dedicated to the presentation of exceptional projects from large formats and series to installations. For this 5th edition, 14 projects are presented in the Salon d’Honneur of the Grand Palais, among which the large format works of Marie Cloquet (Annie Gentils, Antwerp) and Zohra Opoku (Mariane Ibrahim, Seattle), series by Susan Derges (Purdy Hicks, London) and the SubREAL group (Jecza, Timisoara) as well as installations by Marianne Csáky (Inda, Budapest.

The Curiosa sector, inaugurated in 2018, is dedicated this year to emerging artists. Curated by Osei Bonsu (British-Ghanaian curator and writer), this year’s theme addresses photography and its increasingly unstable relationship with the world today. The selection will illuminate the multiple realities of human experience, seen and unseen in thoughtful and innovative ways.

Presented in the mk2 Grand Palais cinema, and freely accessible to all Paris Photo visitors, the 3rd edition of the FILM sector presents an exploration of the intimate and diverse relationship between photography and moving image with a series of films by artists and photographers spanning genres including documentary, fiction and digital manipulation of the image. The sector is curated by Matthieu Orléan (artistic advisor, Cinémathèque française) and Pascale Cassagnau (Head of Audiovisual collections and new media, Centre national des arts plastiques (French Ministry of Culture). The screening programe will be announced in September.

The Platform Conversations – Experimental forum, the platform proposes cycle of conversations with leading figures in the field with series led by David Campany, Hans-Ulrich Obrist, Osei Bonsu, Emanuele Quinz and Samuel Bianchini, and round-table discussions and presentations by Fannie Escoulen, Michel Poivert, Françoise Paviot. Paris Photo-Aperture Foundation PhotoBook Awards – The PhotoBook Awards celebrate the book’s contribution to the evolving narrative of photography. The winners for categories: 1st PhotoBook (10,000 dollar prize), PhotoBook of the year, Photography Catalogue of the Year, will be announced at Paris Photo Friday, November 8, at 1pm. The shortlisted titles will be presented in the 8th edition of The Photobook Review and exhibited at the fair. See the shortlist announcement online at: www.aperture.org and www.parisphoto.com.
