Panel Discussion: Regarding Women

Gallery Momo presents the panel discussion Regarding Women. Nontobeko Ntombela, Ayana V Jackson, Mary Sibande, Shatema Threadcraft and Donna Kukama will talk about the representation of the female body in photographic practice. The presentations will range from a look into the history of portraiture, self-portraiture and performance of thand by woman through to feminist theories on embodiment via examinations of artists working in the medium today. While the discussion will be broad in its scope, a special interest will be taken with regards to artists from and working in South Africa and the broader African and African Diaspora context.
