Nora Chipaumire : portrait of myself as my father

Nora Chipaumire : portrait of myself as my father

What is the basis of Black masculinity? Is it the walk, is it posture, is it the time one takes? In “portrait of myself as my father” Nora Chipaumire grapples with the father figure, which becomes an opportunity to question colonial and post-colonial strategies.

For Chipaumire, born in Zimbabwe, living in Brooklyn, the biography of her father becomes the starting point for a performance mix of dance, pop culture, acrobatics and discourse that passionately throws racist stereotypes and violence into the ring along with role models and utopias.
