IMPRINT of Ghana – Group Show

When discarded plastic turns into meaningful and beautiful art. Gallery LM presents the work of Patrick Tagoe-Turkson, Anita Cudjoe, Osei Moses Seth, and Tony Tetteh Blankson from 29 August to 4 October 2020.

Who would have thought that discarded flip-flops, empty rice bags, used jute bags and old computers could be turned into art – and even beautiful art that shows a way out of environmental waste? Nevertheless, that is what four artists from Ghana do.

All artists work with the prints, characters and clues we humans put on the world. Their workingprocess is to clean, tear, cut and weave the materials, and then they compose new expressions in which the sensuous and brightly colored compositions dominate the expression.

It is important for the artists both to visualize a national identity, and to tell a story, but also to focus on climate and environmental issues. Their works of art express a relevant contemporary problem of the interaction between environmental waste and art aesthetics.
