Here Lives the Origin

Josh Lilley presents Here Lives the Origin, the first UK solo exhibition by artist, curator and activist Rember Yahuarcani who belongs to the Aimeni (White Heron) clan of the Uitoto Nation of northern Amazonia in Peru.

Yahuarcani’s paintings propose an intimate encounter with the spiritual force that remains alive within Indigenous cosmogonies. Through channeling and transforming the messages of his grandmother, Martha, the artist reimagines our relationship with territory and time, and calls to the recognition of Indigenous art as a living act of cultural creation, resistance and transformation.
