MAME-DIARRA NIANG: Éthéré

Text by Florian Gaité

-----------------

Burial of an absent body, the work gives a critical and poetic view of a morbid deed, the profane exhumation of a young Senegalese man, presumed homosexual.
Ethéré explores the link between death and territory and proposes the paradoxical experience of a last resting place at the heart of life, animated by the image of the public that is projected there.
Favouring the plurality of perspectives and the singular encounter, free movement and the reflexive network can structure perception just as much as they destabilise it.
Corpuscular matter and receptacle of imaginary things, the installation mobilises intimate judgement and outflanks religious dogmas, recalling spirituality in its capacity for deterritorialisation.

Opening 11 May, 2pm
