Conversas em Gondwana – Group Show

Conversas em Gondwana – Group Show

Conversas em Gondwana is a platform for research and experimentation in contemporary art and features collaborative works developed over a year by five pairs of Brazilian and South African artists.

The show also has a selection of works entitled Archipelago, from several other artists. Gondwana is the name of the supercontinent that about 200 million years ago united the continental masses of what we now call South America, Africa, Antarctica, Australia and India. The project evokes this distant geological past in order to intensify the flow of practices and research among artists, curators and researchers from these regions.

Curators: Juliana Caffé and Juliana Gontijo (São Paulo Government and Secretary of Culture) –

Participating artists: Aline Xavier & Haroon Gunn-Salie; Ana Hupe & Gabrielle Goliath; Clara Ianni & Mikhael Subotzky; Daniel Lima & Ismail Farouk and Paulo Nimer, PJota & Siwa Mgoboza –

Artists Archipelago: Kemang Wa Lehulere, Penny Siopis, Cinthia Marcelle and Jean Meeran, Thiago Rocha Pitta, Marcelo Moscheta and Renata de Bonis

Talk: On 9th February from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., there will be talks with the artists’ doubles in the exhibition space.
