9th Edition AKAA

For its ninth edition, AKAA returns to the Carreau du Temple from October 18 to 20, 2024, with 37 exhibitors and more than 100 artists that we are excited to introduce to you. AKAA announces the participation of numerous international galleries, with returning exhibitors such as Galerie Primo Marella from Italy, This is Not a White Cube from Angola/Portugal, Perve Galeria from Portugal, Band of Vices from the USA, and 193 Gallery from France. AKAA announces new participants, including Galerie Christophe Person from France, Maison Gaston from Guadeloupe, Artistic Rezo Caraïbes from Martinique, Olivier Waltman from France, Amaska Gallery from Uganda, and The African Art Hub from the UK, to name a few.

This year, AKAA continues to highlight the conversations between Africa, the Americas, and the Caribbean, with a particular focus on the ultra- marine scene. Numerous galleries and artists will amplify the voices of these vibrant artistic communities from French overseas territories.

AKAA proudly announces the appointment of Benjamin Hélion as Associate Director. With his extensive experience in entrepreneurship, communication, and event management, Benjamin has been providing strategic advice to AKAA for many years. In 2024, he will take on a more active role alongside Victoria Mann in the production of the event.

Benjamin Hélion is also the co-founder of the communication agency Sisso, the event agency Artvizor, the Urban Artfair, and the H-gallery on Rue Chapon. He is a partner at the publishing house JBE Books and the author of two artist biographies, including that of his grandmother Pegeen Vail Guggenheim. He is also the president of APOJHÉ, the as- sociation for the promotion of the work of Jean Hélion, which includes the descendants of the artist.
