#4 Biennale de Lubumbashi

The 4th edition of Picha Encounters, Biennale of Lubumbashi 2015 will take place from 9 October – 8 November 2015.

The title and concept of this years edition, Realités Filantes (Free-Flowing Realities), was borrowed from Edouard Glissant, the great Martinican poet, philosopher, and writer. The biennale’s exhibitions and events interrogate the diversity of complex ways in which artists perceive a “disposable” reality where nothing seems destined to last.

The Biennale of Lubumbashi will be spread across multiple locations. The main exhibition halls are the National Museum of Lubumbashi, the Institute of Fine Arts, the Halle de l’Etoile/Institut Français, and the Lubumbashi Synagogue, alongside a range of satellite spaces around the city. The various sections comprise a program of large events including exhibitions, conferences, gatherings, films, workshops, and much more.
