31st Bienal de São Paulo goes on tour

31st Bienal de São Paulo goes on tour

Different selections from the How to (...) things that don’t exist the 31st edition of the São Paulo Bienal , will go on show in six Brazilian cities and one abroad. This will be the first time the Bienal’s traveling show, created in 2011, will be leaving the country. Starting on February 24, the Fundação Armando Álvares Penteado campus in São José dos Campos will be hosting the first stage of the tour. Further exhibitions will open in March (Campinas), April (Juiz de Fora and Ribeirão Preto) and June (São José do Rio Preto and Belo Horizonte). The first international stop is scheduled for October, in Portugal. The partnerships with FAAP, SESC, Palácio das Artes and Museu de Arte Murilo Mendes have been renewed in the hope of repeating the success of the 2013 edition, which drew a further 184,076 visitors to the 30th Bienal (held in 2012). For Luis Terepins, president of the São Paulo Bienal Foundation, the traveling shows “strive to expand the possible interchange between the cultural life of São Paulo and exhibition spaces throughout the Brazilian countryside and abroad, bringing the questions raised by the 31st Bienal to new audiences and taking the exhibition in new directions.” About the 31st São Paulo Bienal – Selected Works The 31st São Paulo Bienal featured 69 participants from 34 countries, among individual artists and collectives.
