18th edition of Paris Photo

The 18th edition of Paris Photo will take place from 13 -16 November at the Grand Palais, Paris. Representing 35 countries world-wide including for the first time Brazil, Chili, Greece, Saudi Arabia, Taiwan, and Turkey, 143 galleries and 26 art book dealers/publishers will showcase both contemporary and historic works encompassing the prolific medium of photography today. A rich ensemble of exhibitions completes this panorama offering the visitors a broad perspective and appreciation of the field. The MoMA will present their programme of RECENT ACQUISITIONS, demonstrating the institution’s pioneering force for the promotion of the language of photography, and the PRIVATE COLLECTION of The Alkazi Collection of Photography, with meticulously staged and ornamented painted photographs from India and Southern Asia. The Paris Photo PLATFORM, organized by independent curator Urs Stahel, will reunite artists, curators, historians, and writers, promoting reflection and exchange with a cycle of conversations. Continuing the narrative of the photobook, this year’s OPEN BOOK exhibition is dedicated to artists books published between the 1960s and today with singular works by many of photography’s most innovative protagonists. In partnership with the Aperture Foundation, Paris Photo presents the 4th annual PHOTOBOOK AWARDS introducing a new category for the “Photography Catalog of the Year”. The programming is made possible thanks to the support and participation of our distinguished partners: Giorgio Armani and the “Acqua #5” exhibition; J.P. Morgan with a selection of works from the JPMorgan Chase Art Collection; BMW Art and Culture with works by Mazaccio & Drowilal; “Silenzio!” by François Fontaine presented by Leica; “Hiroshi Sugimoto” presented by amana; an exhibition of Khalid Al-Thani by Steidl and finally, the SFR Jeunes Talents Awards.
