Mário Macilau: Circle of Memories
The Mozambican artist Mário Macilau combines in a single photograph portraits of families, often mother and child with surrounded abandoned places, especially buildings dating from the colonial era. Each photograph was taken with a single slow pause that allows him to aim the lens first at people and then at the scene.
