Set at La Grande Halle de La Villette, which staged the controversial exhibition Magiciens de la terre (Magicians of the World) in 1989, Afriques Capitales once again reimagines the story arc of the so-called Global South. Curated by Simon Njami, the event sheds a new light on urban contemporary art, by calling into question preconceived notions of African creation. The exhibition will run until 28 May 2017 and features multidisciplinary works by more than sixty artists of different backgrounds and generations.
