61st Venice Biennale: Arsenale and Giardini

The project for this edition of the Venice Biennale was developed by curator Koyo Kouoh (1967–2025) and centers on the musical metaphor of Minor Keys, alluding to quiet tones, lower frequencies, hums, the consolations of poetry, and all other quieter creations of art.

According to Kouoh, the minor keys also represent "small islands—worlds amid oceans with distinct and endlessly rich ecosystems, and social lives articulated within much larger political forms and ecological stakes". The exhibition invited 111 participants from diverse geographies and regions to explore this concept. In this installation view, we highlight the work of Latin American and Caribbean artists that can be seen in the main exhibition at Arsenale and Giardini.
