440 candidates from 69 countries participated in the open call for the second edition of the Prix Elysée. Over 8,800 images were reviewed by the Musée de l’Elysée curators. “This second edition of the Prix Elysée is marked by great diversity. Very talented artists from so many different countries answered our call for applications with strong and often socially engaged projects. We are grateful to all the candidates for their work and to those who kindly supported their application,” underlines the director, Tatyana Franck.

About the Prix Elysée

Launched in 2014, the Prix Elysée is a prize supporting artistic production in the field of photography. Result of a partnership between the Musée de l’Elysée and Parmigiani Fleurier, it offers financial help and curatorial guidance to artists with a passion for photography and books, so they can take a decisive step in their career. Martin Kollar is the winner of the first edition of the prize.

Next steps: the Nominees’ Book and the winner’s selection

The eight nominees receive a contribution of 5,000 CHF towards the initial presentation of their original project in the Nominees’ Book, co-published with the publishing house Photosynthèses in Arles, in January 2017. “The Musée de l’Elysée is fully committed to supporting artists in the evolution of their career. Publishing a beautiful book in collaboration with Photosynthèses to present the nominees’ projects as they develop is evidence of this commitment,” emphasizes Pascal Hufschmid, Head of External Affairs. Designated by a jury of experts during the spring of 2017, the winner will be announced at the Nuit des images in June 2017 and will receive 80,000 CHF to produce the project and a book.
